Where does the time go? Every mother knows and feels my pain associated with time.
My baby girl just graduated from High School last Friday. It seems like just yesterday that we were headed down to the Working Womens Survival Show to meet the CEO of SeneGence…Joni Rogers-Kante just 76 months ago. Alexis has aways been a Mommas girl and if I was going to sell LipSense then she was too. Oh Yes! And Alexis was and is Determined too. When we arrived at the expo, we were amazed at all the women that lined up about 4 rows across and 10 deep at that booth just to try this lipstain called LipSense. Such a wowing experience. The story from here gets rather long because Alexis & I did many trade shows and home demos after that day. We are road trip girls! All while the men in our lives played golf, watched football, cut grass and did guy things. Lu (our nickname for Alexis, shortened from LuLu) soon became not only a LipSense expert but also enjoyed doing makeovers. It would amaze me when I would look behind me in the booth and see Alexis (12 at the time) using brushes, sponges and applicators to apply SeneGence Sense cosmetics and LipSense lipstick on a women for oftentimes up to 45 minutes while discussing all the wonders of the SeneGence line. A couple of years after that we lost my mother. It was very difficult on all of us as she was the apple of our eyes…The perfect mother, mother in law, friend and grandmother. We were blessed to have her in our home for about 114 days before she left us.
LipSense and shows), and my mom was actually shortly after Mimi had pasted away. Lu and I were enjoying dinner at Applebees in Southern Missouri after a long day at a women’s expo. I accused Alexis of interviewing potential surrogate grandmother’s at the show. We laughed…but she didn’t disagree.
OH MY GOSH! My baby is off to Mizzou in the fall. Since when is August fall??? I am thrilled for her..but I’m dyin. Yes! I know you mothers understand. So it is only 90 minutes from our home. We can do lunch! I know she will be sharing her LipSense with those sorority sisters…OOPS…let’s hope she accepted by the sorority of her choice. Such random thoughts these days.
I am the luckiest mother in the world to call Alexis my daughter. Hope you enjoyed a little piece of our lives and the graduation pics.
and to Lu….I love you more!
Amazing that I was feeling so compelled to “visit” with you today… Time got away from me as far as giving you a call, so I thought I’d virtually see what you are up to- ha! Thanks for making me CRY!!
You indeed have a beautiful, sensitive and smart daughter – I knew she was YOURS the minute I met her! Such spunk and energy!
I totally understand what you call your random thoughts since God splashed two beautiful daughters into my life and I have “been there and done that” as far as saying goodbye goes. (NOT trying to trivialize your emotions, no way….. just the memory of hugging my Lisa goodbye in my driveway 5 years ago evokes heartache!)
Daughters. Darn it, they just smack your heart with love the minute you hold them in your arms. And then that love just GROWS and wraps around your heart every day- even when they are making you crazy! When they go away, they take a huge piece of your heart with them down that road to the future. But the neat thing is that “piece” of your heart will keep you ever so close to each other.
Trust me.
Lulu will SOAR and you are the reason she will!
